LONDON MARATHON 2014 UPDATE
Just over eight weeks to go to the starting gun at the London marathon and unfortunately I am still off the road due to an IT band problem in my left knee. I am still ticking over with strength and conditioning work in the gym, but a marathon will find most people out if you haven't been able to clock the miles in preparation.
My last long run was 16 miles which was no problem, however that was over three weeks ago, and its been very frustrating not being able to get out there. On Monday I am up to the hospital for a scan, and post that I will know a lot more where I am with regards to the big race. Hail rain or snow, I am determined to complete this years marathon in London, even if I have to walk it, but hopefully it doesn't come to that.
Earlier this week I spent a couple of hours on a conference call advising an International think tank on a new Multiple Sclerosis website and information centre. It is great to be a part of it and to lend whatever advice I can to the project. For all MS'ers out there, I can assure you that the medics and pharmaceutical company's are working night and day to make our lives more manageable so have faith, there is plenty of hope out there for the MS Community.
I am hoping that in the next few days I get some decent news from the consultant so I can get my 4th marathon in four years completed in April. I have a number of other physical challenges to do in 2014, so I need my body strong again to get me through them.
Fingers crossed I get some good news on Monday.
Keep you posted
