Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.
Napoleon Hill

Over the last few years I've done a fair bit of reading.  Up to 2009 my reading was restricted to the back of the red tops, to check up on all the latest football news and goings on.  However in 2009 a great friend of mine introduced me to personal development, which is where it all started for me and opened my eyes to a whole new world of opportunity.

One of the best books I've read in the last five years has to be Napoleon Hills, Think and Grow Rich.  This is an incredible book and from the first few pages it has you hooked.  Its basically a life manual and sets out a number of points that if you stick to you won't be far away.  Don't get confused as its not about making loads of money and rich in material goods etc.  Its about being rich in other things in life, the real things that really matter.  I would strongly encourage anyone to read it.

Strength and growth only come through continuous effort and struggle - pretty damn hard to argue with this statement.  Show me a man who hasn't a struggle, I don't think they exist or I have yet to meet such a person.  All of us struggle at one time or another and thats ok.  It all about learning the life skills to deal with the difficult times that really matters.  It's something I personally will continue to work on.

Week 22 of Ironman training started for me yesterday, and the bad news is I am still nursing a groin strain from just over 2 weeks ago.  I'm pissed off with myself for getting injured in the first place as i'd no business running hard on a training run.  There's nothing I can do about it now and as I said last week, it has allowed me to get in the pool most days and my swimming is improving if nothing else.

This weekend I'm back in action and down to do challenge number 4 of my #Against all odds campaign in the Olympic Belfast Triathlon. I'm hoping I will come through it ok.  I was looking today and there's only just over eight weeks to Ironman so I need to get my body back strong again soon, so I can get back to my training program.

So remember if your running through hell,  do what Winston Churchill recommends and just keep on running.  Try and do it with a smile on your face no matter what pain you are going through.

Tomorrow is a new day..!

Have a great week.
